German-based broadcaster Deutsche Welle’s Turkish service (DW Turkish) is closing its office in Turkey because the Ministry of Industry and Technology did not extend its working license.

The Ministry of Industry and Technology did not extend the working period of Deutsche Welle’s (DW) liaison office in Turkey upon the request of the Presidency of Communications. DW applied to the Ministry last February for an extension of the two-year work permit. However, DW’s liaison office ended its activities on March 28, as the Ministry needed to respond positively to its application.
