Recently elected TFF president Büyükelçi declares the Super League will be on beIN Sports for another year
According to Ajansspor’s coverage, Mehmet Büyükelçi, the 44th president of Turkish Football Federation, has announced that the broadcasting agreement with Digiturk’s beIN Sports will be extended for 2022-2023 season.
As being uncontested, Büyükelçi has been elected as the president at TFF’s extraordinary general meeting on June 16th, 2022. Büyükelçi’s term is limited for a year, until next general meeting of TFF in June 2023. In his statements, Büyükelçi also aims to export Turkish Super League broadcasting rights, as Turkish series being broadcasted on 140 countries.
According to TFF’s Main Status, the broadcasting agreement needs to be finalised six months prior to the beginning of the Super League season, yet the period has been surpassed. Despite Saran Group signing and sending the agreements for five broadcasting packages, the federation did not reply to Saran’s offer. Since beIN’s contract for former seasons expired, TFF needs to receive approval from the competition board in case of any extension with beIN Media Group without any bidding.
